His Holiness, The Dalai Lama XIV

There was excitement in Boulder, Colorado today as His Holiness, The Dalai Lama spoke to thousands of enthusiastic listeners. In the words of one attendee, "I'm literally almost in an altered state right now. It was so powerful."

The Dalai Lama was born to farming parents in a small town. He was one of seven children. His elder and younger brothers were regarded as incarnated high lamas (spiritual teacher/leader). He was discovered by Tibetan elders who went searching for a successor after the the 13th Dalai Lama died. At the age of two, he was able to call out the search leader's name with no prompting and correctly recognize objects belonging to the former Dalai Lama.

As befitting a spiritual leader, The Dalai Lama has a very strong chart. Jupiter (Guru) and Sun (Surya) represent the spiritual path and they are strong and well placed in the 5th house of intelligence and the 1st house of name and fame, respectively. The Sun there also gives him his characteristic cheerfulness. Jupiter casts a favorable aspect to the Sun, strengthening it even more. The Moon rules the 2nd house of status and is likewise strong and well placed in the 3rd house of leadership and courage, ruled by the Sun. Also resident and strongly placed in the 3rd house is the ruler of the 5th house of intelligence, Venus. Saturn which rules the masses is strongly placed in its own sign in the 9th house of spiritual development. He is revered and worshipped by many around the world.

He won the Nobel Peace prize in October, 1989 during his Moon subperiod. Transiting Jupiter and Saturn were favorably aspecting many of his houses at the time.

The Dalai Lama is a rare gift of hope and sweetness in today's world. The earth is blessed to experience his wise and positive energy. And we are pleased that he brought his powerful message of peace to our city today.
