Patty Duke

Patty Duke, Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe award winning actress died recently. She rose to stardom at age 16, portraying Helen Keller in the film "The Miracle Worker" for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. This occurred during her strong Venus (acting) subperiod. Patty Duke image

Patty's natal chart shows royal Leo ascending which gives stage presence and leadership. She was President of the Screen Actors Guild during her strong Venus subperiod. The ruler, Sun, however is weak in extreme old age. She underwent single bypass heart (ruled by the Sun) surgery in one of her Rahu subperiods.

Rahu, the north node of the Moon, is strong and exalted in the 10th house of profession and honor. Mercury, ruling her house of wealth, family, and status also is strong and placed in the 4th house. She was nominated for many awards and won one Oscar, two Golden Globes, and three Emmys among others. She also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her strong 3rd house ruler, Venus, contributed to the authoring of two books.

Rahu and Ketu, however, afflict the even-numbered houses and this can indicate issues related to marriage, family, home, health, and accidents. Her parents could not care for her as her father was alcoholic and her mother was clinically depressed. Also, note the weakness of the Sun (father) and the Moon (mother) dependent on the Sun's strength. She was cared for by her talent managers who steered her career. She was married four times (also note the weak placement of the 7th house ruler, Saturn) plus suffered with bipolar disorder and alcohol/drug abuse. When the transiting nodes returned to their natal places in September, 2002, she was hospitalized with a baseline skull fracture and a concussion from a horse accident.

Patty Duke, at 69 years of age, died March 29, 2016 of sepsis (dirty and infected blood) due to a ruptured intestine. She was in a weak Sun subperiod which was transiting the 8th house of death-like experiences. Her natal Moon, which is weak, rules the quality of the blood and was under the stationary transit influence of the Rahu-Ketu axis.

Thank you Patty for all the wonderful years of your acting and entertainment!
